Upper Deck brings the Fleer Ultra brand to the Professional Women’s Hockey League with a release that leans heavily into familiar Ultra traits: layered parallels, retro callbacks, tough autograph pulls and a deep insert mix. The result is a debut product that should feel immediately recognizable to longtime Ultra collectors while also giving PWHL builders plenty to chase across base cards, rookies, themed inserts and scarce signatures.
For hobby collectors, the format is built around steady variety. Boxes average six serial-numbered cards, including four numbered parallels, seven 1999 Retro variations and 16 inserts. Autographs are not guaranteed in every box, but they do average four per 10-box case, which keeps signed cards meaningful without making them feel impossible.
The set also adds a strong rookie presence, several nostalgia-driven designs and a full team-by-team card spread across Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, Montreal Victoire, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, Seattle Torrent, Toronto Sceptres and Vancouver Goldeneyes.
2025-26 Fleer Ultra PWHL Hockey at a glance
- Release date: September 2, 2026
- Cards per hobby pack: 8
- Packs per hobby box: 15
- Boxes per hobby case: 10
- Base set size: 100 cards
Expected hobby box content includes eight cards from Stylistic, Ultra Power, Catalyst or Ultra Team; six numbered cards; four numbered parallels; six Medallions or Rising Stars inserts; two cards from Top 30, Meteor Shower or Year 3; and seven 1999 Base Variations.
Base set structure and rookie breakdown
The main set contains 100 cards. Veterans occupy cards 1 through 75, while cards 76 through 100 are rookies. Upper Deck states that rookies land once per pack, which gives this release a strong entry point for collectors targeting first-year PWHL names.
Base parallels cover the full set and include a mix of readily available shine and low-number scarcity.
- Rainbow Foil: Base 1:1 packs, Rookies 1:4 packs
- Gold: /250
- Ice: /100
- Platinum: /25
- Gold Spectrum: 1/1
Numbered base parallels are hobby and e-Pack exclusives. The rookie class includes Casey O'Brien, Michelle Karvinen, Natalie Mlynkova, Anna Shokhina, Abby Hustler, Emma Gentry, Anne Cherkowski, Nicole Gosling, Olivia Mobley, Jenna Buglioni, Skylar Irving, Kiara Zanon, Haley Winn, Maddi Wheeler, Nina Jobst-Smith, Vanessa Upson, Hannah Murphy, Abby Newhook, Callie Shanahan, Sanni Ahola, Kendall Cooper, Ella Huber, Kristyna Kaltounkova, Clara Van Wieren and Rory Guilday.
1999 Ultra Variations bring the retro angle
One of the biggest design stories in the product is the full 100-card 1999 variation set. Upper Deck revives the look associated with the debut Ultra WNBA release from 1999, giving this PWHL launch a retro identity that connects women’s sports card history across eras.
The 1999 variation set includes all 75 veterans and all 25 rookies from the main checklist.
- Base 1999 Variations: 1:3 packs
- 1999 Rookie Variations: 1:9 packs
- Purple parallel: /349, blaster exclusive
- Gold parallel: /99, hobby and e-Pack exclusive
Because this is a full-set treatment rather than a smaller subset, player and team collectors have a real shot at building matching retro runs. That should make these one of the more active parallel chases in the product.

New York Sirens collectors get Sarah Fillier, Kayle Osborne, Micah Zandee-Hart and Jaime Bourbonnais in base, plus rookies Casey O'Brien, Anne Cherkowski, Maddi Wheeler and Kristyna Kaltounkova. Collector checklist notes
Print runs for non-serial-numbered cards have not been announced. That makes the numbered layers especially important for collectors trying to judge scarcity across the product. From a chase standpoint, the clearest hobby targets are Gold Spectrum base 1/1s, Gold Rainbow Autographs, Black Medallions, Black Rising Stars, Fresh Ink signatures and case-level Mise-en-Scene cards.
For player collectors, the strongest overall runs belong to stars who appear across base, retro variants, autographs and multiple insert families. Names like Sarah Fillier, Marie-Philip Poulin, Natalie Spooner, Taylor Heise, Hilary Knight, Sarah Nurse, Alex Carpenter and Ann-Renee Desbiens stand out immediately. For rookie-focused collectors, Casey O'Brien, Kristyna Kaltounkova, Haley Winn, Kendall Cooper, Hannah Murphy, Rory Guilday and Nicole Gosling have broad checklist coverage that should keep demand steady once product reaches the market.
